Meet Alice – Brand Ambassador – Sydney, Australia

July 19, 2024

How did you first learn about the Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme?

I first heard about the programme through family. My cousin was a Brand Ambassador in Madrid. I remember seeing the content he was producing and thinking I’d love to do that. His enthusiasm and experiences really inspired me to apply. By my final year at university I was hooked by the Jameson story and really wanted to join the programme myself.

Can you share your journey through the programme so far?

Sure, I joined the programme in 2022 and began my journey in Málaga, Spain. That first year was an incredible experience. Then I applied for a transfer to Sydney, Australia for my second year. Luckily, I was selected and arrived in Australia in November 2023. I’m thrilled to have just accepted an offer to extend my stay here for my final year. It’s been a whirlwind of opportunities and adventures!

What does a typical day look like for you as a Brand Ambassador in Australia?

My role here is a mix of office and field-based work, with about 60% of my time in the office and 40% out in the field. As a Jameson International Brand Ambassador, my job involves a lot of travel—I’ve been to Sydney, Canberra, Byron Bay, Adelaide, Brisbane, and Melbourne. My role involves organising events, brand education, and supporting the brand team. We’re currently focusing heavily on Ready-to-Drink (RTD) products, so my responsibilities include education, activation, and sampling.

Can you tell us more about the role of Jameson International Brand Ambassador in Spain?

In Spain, my role was predominantly field-based—about 80% of my time was spent out in the field. There, my responsibilities were more around activation events, brand education, distribution, and content creation. This experience was invaluable; it helped me become a well-rounded marketeer. For example, through distribution, I gained insights into consumer preferences and what it takes to get Jameson onto bar shelves. Plus, my Spanish improved significantly—I even developed a bit of a Málaga accent!

What projects or activations have you enjoyed working on in Spain and Australia?

In Australia, I’ve loved working on festivals and getting involved in the planning and execution with our creative agency has been fantastic. I also have an exciting upcoming collaboration with an Australian clothing company. We’re planning DJ nights, whiskey dinners, and exclusive merch.

In Spain, two standout projects were the Jameson Districts and Jameson Connects. The Jameson Districts involved creating passion points around Málaga—like barber shops and vintage stores—where we featured Jameson RTDs like Jameson, Ginger and Lime. It was a great way to engage with the local community. Jameson Connects was another highlight; it’s our own festival with a 1,000-person capacity and having two of them in Málaga was an incredible experience.

What’s the best part of the programme for you, both personally and professionally?

Beyond the amazing professional experiences, the best part of the programme has been the lifelong friendships I’ve made. The people I work with are fantastic, and I know I’ll be friends with them for life. I’ve also had the opportunity to explore both Australia and Spain through work, which has been an unforgettable experience. The marketing skills I’ve gained will hopefully help shape my future career. I get to go to great bars and restaurants and make friends with musicians, photographers, and other creatives.

What do you like to do outside of work?

Outside of work, I’m passionate about sports, especially golf and hockey. Golf has been useful when entertaining clients here in Australia! I also love going to concerts and gigs—I’ve developed a real appreciation for Aussie Rock. I stay active with Reformer Pilates, running, and sea swimming.  I’ve really embraced the Aussie lifestyle. Languages are another passion of mine; I speak Spanish and French and am excited to learn Italian next.

Any final thoughts or advice for those considering applying to the programme?

If you’re considering the Jameson International Brand Ambassador Programme, go for it! It’s an amazing opportunity to grow professionally and personally while experiencing different cultures. The skills you’ll gain, the places you’ll visit, and the people you’ll meet make it all worth it. Plus, you’ll have fun along the way and make memories that will last a lifetime.
