Midleton Distillery in Midleton, Co. Cork, has long been synonymous with Irish whiskey excellence. For the past two centuries, Midleton Distillery has been building its reputation and today, it is the proud home of some of the most awarded and well-known whiskey brands.
In 2025, in addition to marking 200 years of distilling history, we celebrated a milestone moment – being named ‘Most Awarded International Distillery’ at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC) – an accolade widely regarded as the world’s highest blindtasting honour for makers of fine spirits.
Becoming the World’s Most Awarded
This recognition is bestowed upon an international distillery that has achieved the most coveted medals at the SFWSC, where competitors are many.
Midleton Distillery is where the world’s bestselling Irish whiskey, Jameson, is made, along with its family of revered Irish whiskey brands including, Redbreast, Spot Whiskeys, Powers, Method & Madness, and the pinnacle of Irish whiskey, Midleton Very Rare.
At the 2025 SFWSC competition, 37 of our whiskeys collected medals, including:
- 19 Double Golds,
- 9 Golds,
- 7 Platinum Awards,
- 8 BestofClass finalists
- 3 Best-of-Class titles
These prestigious honours were secured from a field of more than 1,600 whiskeys from 73 countries assessed by 64 expert judges.
200 Years In The Making
This accolade was not earned overnight. It is the culmination of 200 years of distilling history.
Through the years, coopers, mash operators, distillers, blenders and warehouse teams have handed down their skills and knowledge to the next generation. It has taken lifetimes to reach this point in history. Today, a tradition of quiet dedication and focus on delivering spirit of the highest calibre, transforms barley, maize, water and carefully sourced oak casks into the many excellent triple distilled Irish whiskeys which make up our portfolio.
