13th September 2022: Irish Distillers, makers of some of the world’s most enjoyed whiskeys and Ireland’s leading suppliers of spirits and wines, is looking for graduates to apply for the newly launched Irish Distillers Graduate Programme.
Commencing in September 2023, Irish Distillers is offering exciting opportunities across chemical engineering, strategy, supply chain, business, HR, business analytics, communications/PR and environmental science. The programme, which is now open for applications, offers graduates the opportunity to begin their career with the world’s leading producer of Irish whiskey, including Jameson, Powers, Midleton Very Rare, the Spot Family, Redbreast and Method and Madness.
As part of the two-year programme, graduates will work alongside teams across three locations including the state-of-the-art Midleton Distillery in Cork and within Irish Distillers’ high-volume bottling operations plant in Dublin 22 and head office in Ballsbridge, Dublin 4. The two-year programme offers graduates the opportunity to take part in a challenging and rewarding programme that offers real responsibilities, structured learning and exciting and business critical project work.
Mairead Griffin, Head of Talent Acquisition at Irish Distillers said: “At Irish Distillers, colleague mentorship and development are the cornerstones of our business. We want to leverage the deep experiences we already have within the business to support and nurture the next generation of talent through our graduate programmes. This year, our ambitious business growth plans have led us to expand our graduate programme offering. This allows us to protect and build our pipeline of talent to safeguard our future success. With the recent announcement of a €250 million investment to build a new distillery in Cork, subject to achieving a successful planning application and meeting licensing requirements, and our commitment to fund projects aimed at transforming our existing Midleton Distillery into a carbon neutral operation by the end of 2026, there has never been a more exciting time to be part our journey.”
The programme is designed to give graduates ownership of their career aspirations, supported by practical experience, with guidance from experienced, collaborative leaders and teams.
In Midleton Distillery, chemical engineering and environmental science graduates will work on process systems and continuous improvement projects in a data driven environment. At the company’s bottling operations site in Dublin 22, supply chain graduates will be involved in everything from supply planning, demand planning and transformation projects, while business graduates will gain the leadership, operational and people skills to become positioned as potential leaders of the future.
Finally, at Irish Distillers’ head office in Dublin 4 graduates placed in the communications, HR, strategy and revenue growth programme will work alongside established teams, gaining valuable experience that will set them up for future success.
“We already have very capable teams within the business who have risen up through the ranks. Our teams are ready to support and guide our new graduates through our two-year programme. We are looking for curious self-starters, who are agile and never stop wanting to learn.
“We believe that diverse perspectives make us better and we are looking for people from all backgrounds and experiences to come together to create the spirit that makes us great,” Griffin concluded.
The graduate programme offers a structured learning programme that provides professional, technical and personal skills development through onboarding, mentoring, access to leadership and project work.
The programme is seeking graduates from business, strategy, chemical engineering, HR, environmental science and business analytics.
Applications for the next intake close on Monday 31st October with placements beginning in September 2023.
