Meet Kayleigh, our Visitor Experience Marketing Assistant, who is based at our Jameson Distillery Bow Street. Kayleigh works as part of a small team responsible for attracting visitors to our world famous visitor experiences at our Midleton Distillery Experience and our Jameson Distillery Bow Street.
Can you introduce yourself and describe your role at Jameson Distillery Bow St?
My name is Kayleigh, and I am a Marketing Assistant for our two Brand Homes- Jameson Distillery Bow St., Dublin and Midleton Distillery Experience, Cork. My role involves lots of moving parts from ensuring all our promotional materials, such as posters, screens and signs, are up-to-date, keeping our website current and managing our social media which includes leading any shoots we need. I have also led our St. Patrick’s Day festivals and worked on many exciting projects including the reopening of Midleton Distillery Experience. Due to us being operational, it is a very fast-paced environment which involves me dealing with many different teams and stakeholders. Essentially, my job is to help build awareness of our distilleries and build brand love and advocacy.
How did you start your career at Irish Distillers?
I started my career at Irish Distillers in 2019, right after finishing my undergraduate degree. I was looking for a summer job, and a friend that was working at Bow St. suggested I apply. From the moment I walked through the doors, I was captivated by the building, the people, and the atmosphere. I started as a Brand Ambassador, delivering tours and tastings, and meeting people from all over the world who loved Jameson, which was an incredible experience. During COVID, I transitioned to reservations. I also pursued my master’s in marketing during this time. Now, I’m a Marketing Assistant as part of the Jameson programme. I focus on ensuring people are aware of our seven brands focusing on Jameson for Bow St. and our full portfolio for Midleton. Although my responsibilities have changed, my passion for the brand and the pride I feel working in such a historic and heritage-rich building remain the same. I’ve worked here for 5 years now and I’ve experienced lots of variety, which I absolutely love.
What do you enjoy most about working for Irish Distillers?
The best part about working for Irish Distillers is the people. From the moment I started, I felt included and at home, like part of a family. Everyone looks out for each other, genuinely cares about how others are doing, and are always willing to help out. The supportive environment makes it easy to ask for help, and we have great fun along the way. The company culture is fantastic, with lots of opportunities to progress into different roles if you work hard and are enthusiastic.
What’s the culture like at Bow St.?
Although I am the Marketing Assistant for both Brand Homes, I am based in Bow St., in Dublin. The working culture at Bow St. is amazing. We have a group called the bonders, where people from different departments come together to make Bow St. a better place to work. We plan fun activities, surprise treats, and events to keep the work environment lively and enjoyable. We have monthly meetings where we brainstorm ways to improve the culture. This includes everything from providing essentials like deodorants and toothpaste in changing rooms to planning fun nights out. We also organise treats like doughnuts or everyday essentials like cereal and food to be available in our canteen. These small gestures create special moments and help us look forward to the day, especially after a long day or during busy periods. These moments are great for our employees, so everyone feels valued and appreciated.
What is the most rewarding aspect of your job?
The most rewarding aspect of my job is the fun I experience every day. No matter how your day starts, you always leave with a smile because of your colleagues. It’s also great to see the impact of our work on visitors as we bring our story and brands to life for people from all over the world. Seeing the impact that Brand Homes has on advocacy is truly rewarding and seeing how they build that love for the brand after just an hour or two spent with us truly stands to the amazing team we have.
What do you do in your spare time?
I am a big family person and what I enjoy most is spending time with them. I love a cup of tea and chats with my mam at the end of the day. I have a dog named Oscar who I love to cuddle. Outside family I love a little shopping date with friends and going for nice meals and fun nights out. This year I am going to prioritise travel and try to see as many places around the world as I can
How do you see your future at Irish Distillers?
I absolutely love working at Irish Distillers and hope to continue progressing into different roles within the company. The support and opportunities for growth here are fantastic, and I’m excited to see where my career will take me. No matter the role, I’ll always be proud to be part of Irish Distillers.
